Redlike FAQ

Will you create a database for me?

Yes, we can create a database or a database update for you. This is a paid service. Please discuss the details with your account manager.

If the format which you are using already exists within our portfolio, only the database creation is —charged. If it does not, custom development is required.

Why can’t I confirm the registration form?

There can be two causes:

  1. There are required fields which must be filled in – Shop name, city, country.
  2. There is a validation for e-mail and phone number in the registration form and POS info form in Redlike. You must use the correct form in order to be able to confirm the form.

Phone validation

Any numbers are allowed. The amount of numbers does not matter. The sign + is also allowed. Do not use spaces.

E-mail validation

The input must contain @ followed by letters and then . and then text again.

Where do I get/how can I create a print template?

How print labels and templates work is explained in our blog post.

With each Redlike installation, there is a set of 8 various templates in different sizes and with creative layouts. You can either use these directly or you can modify them slightly to fit your needs.

How to work with existing templates is described here.

How to edit an existing template or create a new one is described here.

If you wish to have a completely new template created by us, contact your account manager to arrange the details.

If you wish to have a completely new variable created by us, contact your account manager to arrange the details.

What version numbering can I use when creating database?

When creating database, possible version numbering you can use can have up to 3 numbers for one “field”. For example up to 999.999.999.999

What screen resolutions are supported?

Redlike runs perfectly on all standardised screen resolutions starting at 1024×768, the optimal resolution being 1280×1024.

Please note that the minimal resolution is 1024×768 and it is supported only in kiosk mode.

The behaviour might also get a bit different with various zoom settings.

What is the difference between Master and Zone database?

Master database contains only recipes and information about colorants. It cannot be used in Redlike.

Zone database contains information also about products, bases and packages. Zone database is a full database which is FINAL and must be used in Redlike.

In case you are using other format than Deso Excel, it might happen that your Master database is the final one. To confirm this, contact us.

What is the difference between formula name and formula code?

Formula name – each formula must have a formula name and this must be unique (it must differ from the others). It can always be used for searching purposes.

Formula code – is an optional information type and it does not have to be unique (two or more formulas can have the same formula code). Using formula code for searching purposes might prompt multiple results.

The use of formula name and formula code is settable in Settings – Interface Settings – Formula Settings – Color.

It can be chosen which of these two attributes should be used for searching purposes but at least one must be activated.

The order of the searching fields can be adjusted as well.

Formula name and formula code can be blended together into one searching field (see the setting below). Both names are then displayed and searched for in one row.

Normally, Formula name is displayed as the first one in the field. It can be switched, however, by activating the configuration item “Formula code as primary.”

What if I am unable to edit Redlike options?

In Redlike manager, you might get in the situation, where you are unable to edit “Redlike options”. This might be caused by the “lock” that ensures that value is not changed.

It is important to remember however that this lock cannot be changed on the lower level. E.g. if you apply lock in the Master, you cannot change it in the Zone.

What do I upload when I want to send a database update via Redlike Web?

Main database must be uploaded, nothing else – not zip file, not exe file, not any other file.

This main database must be zone database, not master database. The difference between those is described here.

What do I do to send orders between computers?
  1. Check that the ordering is on (Settings – Interface Settings – Environmental Settings – Software Options)
  2. Make sure that the computers are connected via VPN or on the same network
  3. Add the computer into the server list (Database – Client/Server Connection) using a server name and its IP address

Important note: use static IP address.

What do I do if there are some translations missing or incorrect?

We always highly appreciate help of our partners!

I found one or few incorrect translations

Please, send us a bug report or CRM ticket with descriptions, screenshots and the correct translations.

There are a lot of translations missing

See our manual for translation keys export.

I want to add a new language

Please, generate the whole list from English and send us the new translations. Use the process in the translation keys export manual and do not forget to send us the translation of the language, too.

What do I do if the UFI/HBW/other values are missing in my database?

If some data is missing from the database, please follow these steps:

  1. Check if the data type is supported in your format
  2. Check if the data is present in the source data
  3. Check if the display of the data has been activated in Redlike 2
What do I do if the same update is being sent over and over again?

This means that there is a mismatch between the database versions stated in the database itself and Redlike web. Redlike web became the information that the version is higher than it truly is and keeps trying to send a non-existant update.

To solve this situation, turn the check for update feature off temporarily until you prepare a new update to Redlike web which corrects this mistake. That means – create a new zone database version with a higher number than stated on Redlike web and make sure it matches the version written in the database.

Once the corrected update has been uploaded to Redlike web, turn the check for update feature on again.

What do I do if the real amount of colorant in a canister does not match the software?

The colorant amount in canisters is a type of information which is taken from the driver. Redlike does not change or manage it in any way, only interprets.

You can adjust the displayed amount by changing the value of the current level on the Canister view.

What do I do if the price import is not working?

Please check whether the data in the import file is correctly inserted. Be aware that the column headers and individual sheets cannot be renamed.

Compare the imported file with a newly exported file. It can happen that you are using an older import format which is no longer supported. Only if the export format from your version matches the import format can the price import work correctly.

What do I do if the machine configuration does not match the database or dispenser is missing colorants?

If there are colorants in the machine configuration which are not included in the database, nothing happens.

If there are colorants in the database which are not included in the machine configuration, there is a yellow warning message at the dispenser initialisation informing about it. This also happens if the colorants are in the machine configuration but their names do not match with the names of the colorants in the database.

The colorants which are missing from the machine configuration (or are renamed) cannot be dispensed.

There are two solutions to this situation:

  • adjust (the names of) the colorants in the database, or
  • adjust (the names of) the colorants in the machine configuration.
What do I do if the can confirmation is requested twice or not at all?

In some machine types, there are can sensors.

Can confirmation is requested twice

It can happen that you have activated two-fold configmation:

  1. In the driver/machine itself
  2. In Redlike

To avoid this, turn one of them off. If you want to do it in Redlike, navigate to Machine & Devices – Machine Settings – Dispensing Settings and turn on the configuration item Skip place can dialog or Skip remove can dialog based on the confirmation you want to turn off.

I do not get any can confirmation

If both confirmations are turned off and you would like to activate one, you can do so in the driver or directly in Redlike. In this case, turn off the configuration item Skip place can dialog or Skip remove can dialog based on the confirmation you want to turn on.

What do I do if the barcode reader is not working?
  1. Check that the minimal requirements are met.
  2. Check that barcodes are allowed (Interface settings – Environmental settings – Software options – Allow barcodes)
  3. The issue can be that the barcode from the can cannot be read by the reader. To prove this hypothesis, open a text editor and let the scanned result be written there. If there is nothing, the barcode reader is not reading the barcode.
  4. Another issue can be that the input is wrong which meanst that the barcode reader is configured incorrectly. See our manual here.
  5. If the input is correct and you’re getting a message saying that the barcode cannot be found, check if it has been inserted into the database (it is listed in Redlike Manager or source file for Redlike Importer). Another way is to use barcode testing environment in Redlike (Database connection – Barcode testing)
What do I do if the autocap is not working correctly?

The autocap is controlled solely by the driver. Redlike has no direct communication to it.

If the autocap malfunctions, please contact your service organisation or the dispenser manufacturer.

What do I do if some service action is not shown in Redlike?

If a service action is not shown in Redlike, it means that it is not supported by the machine and cannot be used.

In some cases, it is possible to change the dispenser configuration to have the service action shown. This is then done at your own risk  by you or you service organisation.

What do I do if Redlike Helper is not working?

If you open Redlike Helper and see and empty space, this means that Redlike Helper Server is not running.

Open Task Manager and navigate to Services. Find the service redlikehelperserver and right-click it. Then, choose the option Start.

What do I do if Redlike fills in incorrect amounts?

Every time you are refilling a colorant, a summary pops up to inform you what is the actual amount being refilled. This amount considers the refill factor which is set in the database.

Refill factor is a value in % which determines how much of the colorant can should be refilled in reality – it counts with colorant residue which remains in the can after the refill. Refill factor can be set either on all colorants altogether or on each colorant package individually. The refill factor is set in the database by the database administrator. This can be done via Redlike Importer and the sheet Options in Deso Redlike Excel Zone file or via Redlike Manager.

Important note: refill factor for all canisters must never be combined with refill factors for individual canisteres! They multiply each other.

Solutions

  1. Check whether the refill factor which you desire has been used in the given zone database version.
  2. Check whether only one refill factor type has been used (see important note above).
  3. Check whether the correct barcode of the colorant package has been used in the given zone database version.
What do I do if RCC cannot be started?

RCC requires an open COM port to communicate with the driver/machine. Close any other software (mostly dispensing software) which might be taking up the COM port so RCC can communicate with it.

If RCC still cannot start, see if it is not blocked by an antivirus programme and whitelist it along with all other Redlike components if possible.

What do I do if my update is not going through?
  1. Identify the PC – Get the computer ID (License – License Data – License Status) and look the PC up on Redlike Web on the view License. By clicking on the computer ID, open the detail of the license
  2. Check the current status –  Check whether the license is communicating with Redlike Web  without issues (Last check for update). If not, the Helper – Web communication is obstructed. Set the proxy to communicate with Redlike Web.
  3. Check License group setup – If Redlike Web has no information about the desired version (of software or zone database you’re trying to sent), the setup was done incorrectly. Check what License group the license is assigned to. Check whether this License group has been assigned the attribute which is desired (DB or SW version).
  4. Check availability – The last thing to find out on Redlike web is whether the update has actually been enabled. For zone databases, check the switch sign at the respective zone database version on the Zone database view. In its detail, it can also be checked if other PCs have received the update. If so, the problem is going to be local. The software release status can be checked on Software release view in the detail of the given release. The detail can also be used to check whether other PCs have received it in order to exclude global error.
  5. Check Correctness – The issue could also be incorrect database version stated on Redlike Web. Check if the information on Redlike Web matches the information within the DB (open it in Redlike and see the version Change database pop-up window) and whether this version is higher than the one currently present at the PC where you’re trying to send the update to. With the database update, check also its UUID in the source files.
  6. Check Helper Server – On the part of Redlike, Redlike Helper Server is responsible for update reception. Make sure it is up and running. The easiest way is to open Redlike Helper – if the entire GUI is empty, Helper Server is not running. Turn it on via Task Manager (Windows) or Terminal (Linux).
  7. Check for update – Once Redlike Helper Server is running (and thus the Helper – Web communication has been restored), click on Check for update either via Redlike Helper or using Redlike Client. Alternatively make sure that Check for update is active on the PC.

What do I do if my style is not working or has an error?

My custom style does not load

Make sure that your css file and images are named and located correctly (use our manual).

My custom style contains a design bug

Please send us a bug report with description and a screenshot or a CRM ticket.

What do I do if my spectro is not searching for formulas?

When using spectro measurements, the LAB values are important. Based on those, Redlike compares the spectro measurement results with the LAB data in the database and shows you the best matches.

If the spectro is showing no results, two things may be the cause:

  1. Please check that you have LAB values inserted in the database (you can export it via Redlike Importer for this purpose)
  2. Please check that the spectro is calibrated and set up correctly
What do I do if my spectro does not want to connect?
  1. Make sure that the minimal requirements for spectro have been met
  2. Make sure that the spectro is communicating with the computer
  3. Make sure that the spectro has been calibrated
  4. Make sure that the spectro has been set up correctly
  5. Restart RCC
What do I do if my plugin is not working?

Please check that the plugin is activated in the settings – Server Plugins (green check sign). If it is not (red cross sign), correct the setup as explained in the documentation to your custom plugin provided to you by Deso. If the plugin is active but malfunctioning, please contact our support department.

What do I do if my IDD does not want to connect with Redlike?

IDD is a driver used by the dispenser manufacturer Fast & Fluid. There are multiple types of this driver.

  1. Make sure that the file is valid by running it in IDD.Test
  2. Make sure you set Machine type to Fast & Fluid using IDD in Redlike (Machine & Devices – Machine Settings – Driver Settings)
  3. Make sure you have the correct IDD file for your machine type (contact Fast & Fluid to confirm this)
  4. If you are using IDD2, make sure to license it
  5. Make sure that the file itself and any folder from the path to the driver is not using any diacritics
  6. Restart RCC

To recognise the IDD file:

  • IDD2 ends with .idd
  • IDD4 ends with .ide or .idu
What do I do if my custom data imported incorrectly/did not import at all?
  1. Check if the custom data format is supported.
  2. Check if the custom data file is not corrupted.
  3. Check if the custom data matches the data from the main database (the names of the products are identical, etc.).
  4. Any time you find a mistake, delete the imported data and import it anew.

To import customers, please use this import format.

What do I do if I want to restore a deleted license?

You asked us to remove a license permanently and now you would like to restore it? We are ready for such situations and can use our backup for this.

Write to support@deso.cz and identify the license which you would like to restore.

Make sure that you have got at least one free license which can be used for this revival. See what to do if you do not.

This is a paid service.

What do I do if I see “R2-D2” instead of the name of the database?

This error is caused by client – server incompatibility. Please update your software to the highest possible version.

What do I do if I have a new requirement?

New requirements for the software or any other part of our portfolio must be discussed with your account manager. Please, contact him or her in order to discuss the details.

What do I do if I get the message that the barcode is incorrect?

If there is a red flash message announcing of an incorrect barcode, then this value has been incorrectly set in the database or is missing altogether.

The solution is to compare the two barcodes (the scanned one and the desired one) and see whether they match. If they do, create a new zone database version with the correct barcode inserted.

The issue can be also that the barcode from the can cannot be read by the reader. To prove this hypothesis, open a text editor and let the scanned result be written there. If there is nothing, the barcode reader is not reading the barcode.

Another issue can be that the barcode reader is configured incorrectly. See our manual here.

What do I do if I get the message “Error during connecting to databases”?

You get this screen with the description Server cannot connect to the database. Please check your database configuration. and the clarification Error during connecting to both, main and local databases (wrong file, invalid password), or alternatively only the main database or the local database.

Solution

Most likely, your Redike is running under the demo version and you are trying to use it with your database. This is not going to work as your database does not match the license. The solution is to either remove the database which does not match the license or to ask us for relicensing.

Another solution could be to use the correct password to the database in db.ini file.

Make sure that the db.ini file truly has the extention “.ini” and not something else such as “.txt”.

What do I do if I get the error message “Autologin failed”?

This means that when switching from one zone to another, either the usernames or the passwords of the logged in user do not match. Please log in as a user which is shared across both of the zones (the one you are switching from and the one you are switching to).

For the future, keep your users and passwords the same for all zones available on one computer.

What do I do if I get the error “Another instance already running”?

This might happen when Redlike is shut down unexpectedly. It could by caused for example by hard restart or by closing Redlike using Task Manager.

To solve this, delete the .lock file located in C:ProgramData/Deso/redlike/client/temp.,

What do I do if I don’t have enough licenses?

If you are seeing this or a similar screen and cannot click on the Continue button, that means, there are no more available licenses on your licensing account:

To solve this, please first contact your Redlike Web administrator who is responsible for licenses distribution. It can happen that your company has got plenty licenses left but on other accounts or not assigned yet.

Only if your License overview looks similar to this (Total number of licenses = Spent number of licenses), are you out of licenses altogether.

In such case, please contact your account manager and ask him/her to for new licenses. To speed the process up, say the exact number of licenses you need instead of the unspecific “some”, etc.

The licenses will be added to your company once paid for. After that, let the Redlike Web administrator assign them to the correct user accounts.

What do I do if I am not getting the e-mail about a new license?

To receive e-mail notifications about each newly created license, activate this feature in the detail of the Redlike web user account.

Be aware – this user is going to receive information about every single license in your company, even those licensed by other users.

What do I do if I am getting the message “Invalid db password” when uploading a database?

There are two possible intepretations of this error:

  1. You are uploading an incorrect file – only the main db file is accepted here
  2. You are uploading a file in which the password has changed from the previous one

If you have changed the password, there are two solutions:

  1. Correct the password to the old one by creating a new zone database version
  2. Change the password from db.ini in the Zone setting on Redlike web

What do I do if I am getting a dispenser error message?

Dispenser erros are visible in the machine panel at the bottom of the screen. Erros are clearly recognisable because they are always in red.

Redlike is never the source of such errors, it only interprets them. The source is always the driver of the dispenser and/or the dispenser itself.

If you get a machine error, follow these steps:

  1. Reset the error
  2. If reset is not enough, contact your service organistation
  3. If the reason is not in the hardware (the machine itself) or the service organisation cannot solve the issue in any other way, contact the machine manufacturer and/or the publisher of the driver software

Note: you can see what driver is being used in Machine & Devices – Machine Settings – Driver Settings.

What do I do if automatic print is not working?
  1. Check that the minimal requirements are met
  2. Check that a testing print from another software can be done flawlessly
  3. Check that the printer and templates are set correctly in Redlike (Machine & Devices – Print Settings)
  4. Check that the automatic print is set correctly
  5. Check that RCC is running
What database preparation tools are available?

At the moment, there are 3 various database preparation tools available for our customers. The outcomes of the tools are the same, but the way how to work with them differs. This enables our customers to choose the best way of data processing for their individual workflow.

Redlike Manager

Redlike Manager (RedMan) is the most advanced and easy-to-use tool for database preparation. It supports various formats which allow our customers to import their data into the system. Afterwards, they are free to add/edit/delete any data they wish in a clear and user-friendly environment. The tool supports all advanced features which can be part of Redlike, the POS software, such as images, barcodes, priorities, codes…

Redlike Importer

Redlike Importer is a simplified tool which also supports various formats. However, the data in the formats must be already fully prepared as there is no possibility in the tool to modify it. It simply takes the data and converts it into the correct Redlike database (or any other export as selected in the Importer GUI).

Redlike Importer Command Line

Command Line Importer is the very same application as Redlike Importer, however, it has no user interface. It operates smoothly and silently on the background of the computer and is controlled via command line.

What can be customised in Redlike?

We prepared an individual page which summarises all customisable features. You can find it here.

What browsers are supported for Redlike Manager?

Tested browsers: Chrome, Opera, Firefox

Partially tested browsers: Edge

Any other browser is also supported, however, there might be some design inconsistencies.

I have licenses assigned to the company but I am still getting message about no licenses available, what should I do?

Having licenses assigned to the company is not everything as you need to also assign these licenses to users.

1. Log into your Redlike web account.

2. On the page “Company” find “All company users” table and click on “Edit” (the culomn Actions) for desired user.

3. On the following overview scroll to the bottom of page where you should see fields next do type of licenses.

4. Specify the number of licenses to propriete fields and save the changes by clicking the “Edit” button.

I am unable to license, although I have available licenses, what do I do?

If you see alert window saying that you have no license available or you see that Authentication license key is invalid although you have available licenses:

  1. Try to restart Redlike server service on your computer.
  2. Check whether there are enough licenses assigned to the user key on Redlike web.
  3. Check whether there is license already used for given PC on the license server.
  4. Check and reset given license by setting impacted license to invalid and then back to valid on the license server.
I am getting an error 116, what do I do?

The error 116 means that the license has been deleted. See what to do if you want to restore it.

How does currency rounding work?

Currency rounding value consists of “zeros” (0) and exactly one “one” (1). The number “one” (1) shows the smallest unit payable in the given currency.

Alternatively, you can use other numbers instead of “one” (1). A two (2) and a five (5) can also be used.

How do I transfer a license from one PC to another?

To transfer a license, it must first be deleted from the old PC. To do so, please contact our support department identifying the license and with an official statement that the license will never be used again. Under these circumstances only will we delete the license.

For the deleted license, you will be granted another one which can be used to license another PC.

It is recommended to do such transfers in bulks (not more often than once in 3 months) as this is a paid service.

If you do not wish to delete the license permanently but only deactivate it temporarily, you can invalidate it on your own.

How do I set up my license groups?

License Group Structure

License groups are meant to group certain computers together. These computers share some attribute based on which they form a group. The attribute can be either the software release (they should always have the same version of Redlike) or zone database (they should alway have the same version of the zone database) or both.

The setup is completely up to you. If you require our help with organising your structure, we will be happy to help. In such case please contact your account manager. This is a paid service.

Creating License Groups

If you do know how you want to categorise your PCs, you can create the structure independently.

License groups are created on the view License group on Redlike Web. You can have as many license groups as you wish. You can have as many license groups in a license group as you wish, too.

To add a computer into a license group, navigate to the view Licenses and look the specific computer up. Then open the detail of the computer (click on the Computer ID) and in the table License group, click on the Edit button in the top right corner. Select the correct license group (the license groups must be created prior to the assignment).

One computer can belong to as many license groups as you wish. One license group can contain as many computers as you wish.

For more help, see the full manual.

How do I set critical and warning levels for canisters?

Both critical and warning levels for canisters are set in the machine configuration. Redlike is only reading and interpreting these values but has no way of setting them.

Please do change this in the machine administration.

How do I get simulation dispenser?

The simulation dispenser is used if there is no physical dispenser connected to the computer where Redlike is running.

The simulation dispenser requires a configuration file. This can be obtained by:

  1. Creating an installation file for the database which includes the configuration file – more info here
  2. Creating the configuration file out of an existing database – more info here
How do I deactivate license without deleting it?

If you want to delete a license permanently (and obtain a new one for this), please see license deletion.

If you want to deactivate a license temporarily (no new license is obtained), you can invalidate it on your own. On Redlike Web, navigate to section License and look the desired license up. Then click on the checkbox at the end of the row of the license and in the top right corner of the table, select Set invalid.

The license is going to be deactivated (Redlike cannot be used) until you validate it again. The process is the same only now you click on the button Set valid.

How do I change privileges for individual items?

The privileges are changed by the database administrator in the main databases. This allows the privileges to differ from zone to zone and they concern all configuration items, functions and displayed texts. The overview of the default privileges can be found here.

Possible privileges are:

  • [someone] cannot see
  • [someone] can see but not edit
  • [someone] can see and edit

Privileges are settable in Redlike Importer via Deso Redlike Excel format (sheet User group – manual here) or in Redlike Manager via static.sql. If you cannot create your own static.sql, create a query of specific privileges by contacting us at support@deso.cz or reaching to your account manager. In the query, explain exactly how you want your privileges to be set.

Can you translate messages from the machine?

The messages from the machines are not our competence. Redlike only transmits the information sent from the machine driver. Therefore, these messages are taken from a 3rd party software and are not translatable by us.

We recommend contacting the machine manufacturer (or the publisher of the machine driver, if it differs) for such translations.
