Database FAQ

What version numbering can I use when creating database?

When creating database, possible version numbering you can use can have up to 3 numbers for one “field”. For example up to 999.999.999.999

What is the difference between Master and Zone database?

Master database contains only recipes and information about colorants. It cannot be used in Redlike.

Zone database contains information also about products, bases and packages. Zone database is a full database which is FINAL and must be used in Redlike.

In case you are using other format than Deso Excel, it might happen that your Master database is the final one. To confirm this, contact us.

What is the difference between formula name and formula code?

Formula name – each formula must have a formula name and this must be unique (it must differ from the others). It can always be used for searching purposes.

Formula code – is an optional information type and it does not have to be unique (two or more formulas can have the same formula code). Using formula code for searching purposes might prompt multiple results.

The use of formula name and formula code is settable in Settings – Interface Settings – Formula Settings – Color.

It can be chosen which of these two attributes should be used for searching purposes but at least one must be activated.

The order of the searching fields can be adjusted as well.

Formula name and formula code can be blended together into one searching field (see the setting below). Both names are then displayed and searched for in one row.

Normally, Formula name is displayed as the first one in the field. It can be switched, however, by activating the configuration item “Formula code as primary.”

What if I am unable to edit Redlike options?

In Redlike manager, you might get in the situation, where you are unable to edit “Redlike options”. This might be caused by the “lock” that ensures that value is not changed.

It is important to remember however that this lock cannot be changed on the lower level. E.g. if you apply lock in the Master, you cannot change it in the Zone.

What do I upload when I want to send a database update via Redlike Web?

Main database must be uploaded, nothing else – not zip file, not exe file, not any other file.

This main database must be zone database, not master database. The difference between those is described here.

What do I do if the UFI/HBW/other values are missing in my database?

If some data is missing from the database, please follow these steps:

  1. Check if the data type is supported in your format
  2. Check if the data is present in the source data
  3. Check if the display of the data has been activated in Redlike 2
What do I do if the price import is not working?

Please check whether the data in the import file is correctly inserted. Be aware that the column headers and individual sheets cannot be renamed.

Compare the imported file with a newly exported file. It can happen that you are using an older import format which is no longer supported. Only if the export format from your version matches the import format can the price import work correctly.

What do I do if the machine configuration does not match the database or dispenser is missing colorants?

If there are colorants in the machine configuration which are not included in the database, nothing happens.

If there are colorants in the database which are not included in the machine configuration, there is a yellow warning message at the dispenser initialisation informing about it. This also happens if the colorants are in the machine configuration but their names do not match with the names of the colorants in the database.

The colorants which are missing from the machine configuration (or are renamed) cannot be dispensed.

There are two solutions to this situation:

  • adjust (the names of) the colorants in the database, or
  • adjust (the names of) the colorants in the machine configuration.
What do I do if Redlike fills in incorrect amounts?

Every time you are refilling a colorant, a summary pops up to inform you what is the actual amount being refilled. This amount considers the refill factor which is set in the database.

Refill factor is a value in % which determines how much of the colorant can should be refilled in reality – it counts with colorant residue which remains in the can after the refill. Refill factor can be set either on all colorants altogether or on each colorant package individually. The refill factor is set in the database by the database administrator. This can be done via Redlike Importer and the sheet Options in Deso Redlike Excel Zone file or via Redlike Manager.

Important note: refill factor for all canisters must never be combined with refill factors for individual canisteres! They multiply each other.

Solutions

  1. Check whether the refill factor which you desire has been used in the given zone database version.
  2. Check whether only one refill factor type has been used (see important note above).
  3. Check whether the correct barcode of the colorant package has been used in the given zone database version.
What do I do if my custom data imported incorrectly/did not import at all?
  1. Check if the custom data format is supported.
  2. Check if the custom data file is not corrupted.
  3. Check if the custom data matches the data from the main database (the names of the products are identical, etc.).
  4. Any time you find a mistake, delete the imported data and import it anew.

To import customers, please use this import format.

What do I do if I see “R2-D2” instead of the name of the database?

This error is caused by client – server incompatibility. Please update your software to the highest possible version.

What do I do if I get the message that the barcode is incorrect?

If there is a red flash message announcing of an incorrect barcode, then this value has been incorrectly set in the database or is missing altogether.

The solution is to compare the two barcodes (the scanned one and the desired one) and see whether they match. If they do, create a new zone database version with the correct barcode inserted.

The issue can be also that the barcode from the can cannot be read by the reader. To prove this hypothesis, open a text editor and let the scanned result be written there. If there is nothing, the barcode reader is not reading the barcode.

Another issue can be that the barcode reader is configured incorrectly. See our manual here.

What do I do if I get the message “Error during connecting to databases”?

You get this screen with the description Server cannot connect to the database. Please check your database configuration. and the clarification Error during connecting to both, main and local databases (wrong file, invalid password), or alternatively only the main database or the local database.

Solution

Most likely, your Redike is running under the demo version and you are trying to use it with your database. This is not going to work as your database does not match the license. The solution is to either remove the database which does not match the license or to ask us for relicensing.

Another solution could be to use the correct password to the database in db.ini file.

Make sure that the db.ini file truly has the extention “.ini” and not something else such as “.txt”.

What do I do if I get the error message “Autologin failed”?

This means that when switching from one zone to another, either the usernames or the passwords of the logged in user do not match. Please log in as a user which is shared across both of the zones (the one you are switching from and the one you are switching to).

For the future, keep your users and passwords the same for all zones available on one computer.

What browsers are supported for Redlike Manager?

Tested browsers: Chrome, Opera, Firefox

Partially tested browsers: Edge

Any other browser is also supported, however, there might be some design inconsistencies.

How does currency rounding work?

Currency rounding value consists of “zeros” (0) and exactly one “one” (1). The number “one” (1) shows the smallest unit payable in the given currency.

Alternatively, you can use other numbers instead of “one” (1). A two (2) and a five (5) can also be used.

How do I change privileges for individual items?

The privileges are changed by the database administrator in the main databases. This allows the privileges to differ from zone to zone and they concern all configuration items, functions and displayed texts. The overview of the default privileges can be found here.

Possible privileges are:

  • [someone] cannot see
  • [someone] can see but not edit
  • [someone] can see and edit

Privileges are settable in Redlike Importer via Deso Redlike Excel format (sheet User group – manual here) or in Redlike Manager via static.sql. If you cannot create your own static.sql, create a query of specific privileges by contacting us at support@deso.cz or reaching to your account manager. In the query, explain exactly how you want your privileges to be set.

Can I configure “Validate only colorant package” option in Redlike Manager?

In Redlike Client you can have validation settings for Refill under Dispensing Settings:

Unfortunately this option is not yet present in Redlike Manager.
