Introduction
In order to scan barcodes so Redlike can process them correctly, a certain workflow of the used scanner needs to be set up. Please follow the steps described in this manual to get the data from barcodes into Redlike easily and appropriately.
Requirements
For barcodes to work in Redlike, you need to have/fulfil the following requirements:
- barcode reader DS22,
- barcodes included in the database,
- activate the feature of barcode validation in Redlike,
- this manual, its last page also in printed form (Barcode Scanner Setup).
If you want to use also QR codes, the reader DS2208 has been tested as compatible with Redlike. This reader does not need to be configured.
Barcode Reader LS2208
This manual is written specifically for the Scanner LS2208. Other scanner types might also work, however, we cannot guarantee their correct operation.
Barcodes in the Database
The barcode values need to be included within the database which Redlike is working with. This can be done separately for:
- colours,
- colorant packages,
- products.
Insert the corresponding data into the Barcode column while creating your Zone database.
Barcode Validation in Redlike
To enable barcode validation, enter the section Machine Settings in the left menu where you will be automatically directed into the subsection Machine Settings. In the Dispensing Options part, check Validate barcode of the base can and do not forget to Save the settings.
To activate the change, restart your RCC. To do it, double-click the Helper icon in the taskbar (similar to Redlike icon) and open Redlike Helper.
Restart RCC (Redlike Control Center) by clicking on Stop and afterwards on Start again.
Minimise the window and return to Redlike. Here, click on RCC Reconnect in the bottom part of the page.
Barcode validation has been set successfully. The last point is to set the barcode reader unless you wish to always type the barcodes in manually.
Barcode Reader Setup
Normally, the barcode reader only needs to be configured once. However, it can be reconfigured at any point.
The following content is also available in the manual of the scanner itself. In case of problems with the scanner configuration, please refer to the original documentation of the scanner.
Print this page to scan the following barcodes in the set order. Low print quality may result in malfunctions during scanning and incorrect configuration of the barcode reader.
- Set defaults
- Scan options
- Send F8 key
- <DATA><SUFFIX>
- Enter
- Alternate Numeric Keypad Emulation – scan only if your keyboard is set in a different language than English!!!
If you keep experiencing issues with the numeric keypad emulation, scan the barcode of the respective country keyboard from the official Zebra manual.
